Michael John Howell was born in Glasgow in 1955, the third of eight children. Following a degree in Pure Mathematics, and a career which ranged from cooking to firefighting and much else in-between, Michael became one of the software pioneers of the personal computer revolution of the eighties. Michael is still an active programmer, and now specializes in applications for the imaging industries.
Michael has five children and lives in Glasgow, Scotland, with his ever-patient wife Linda. Passionate about movies and books, Michael also still enjoys a game of football and a glass of Talisker.
The oldest of Michael's programs that is still in use was written in 1986. Some software never dies.
